Last night we did our first presentation at Casa de amisade (House of Friendship) where the RC Araruama met! It all went really well and the presentation was well received by members of the club - they were very impressed by our Portuguese!! Thank you to the RC Araruama for their warm hospitality and the great programme that they had organised for us!!
This morning we woke up to another beautiful day of blue skies and sunshine and headed to Cabo Frio - approximately 1 hour away from Araruama. On arriving in Cabo Frio we were taken straight to a fishing export company and learned where the fish were exported to and how the factory/company works.
Then it was time for lunch - a buffet of salad, crab pie, beef, vegetables, pasta, rice and mashed potato - and of course - guarana to drink - I'm going to miss that drink when I get back to the UK! We were joined by the families who we will be staying with tonight. My host doesn't speak any English - so it could be a very interesting evening but we chatted at lunch and I got by in my Portinhol (Portuguese/Spanish Mix).
Next stop was the Oceanographic Museum which was very interesting with lots of memorabilia/equipment from boats, skeletons of orcas/dolphins and live turtles, fish and lobster! Then it was a drive around the bay up to a beautiful lookout point where we could see many secluded beaches and some lovely houses (I even saw the house I would like to live in - overlooking a beautiful secluded beach and bay with crystal clear water - just need to win the lottery now!).
Now we are at our host families and getting ready for our second presentation tonight with RC Cabo Frio....I'd better go and get myself prepared! Till next time! Or as they would say in Brazil - Ate Logo!
