Arrived in Barsil safely! Was delayed coming off the place as they wanted to inspect it because of Piggy Flu! All the staff in the airport were wearing face masks!

Had a police escort from the airport to the hotel which was either worrying (it is dangerous) or a privilege (because we are so important) - probably the former!

Went straight out of the hotel for a light snack around the corner - with the mini-bus nearly going up a one way street against 3 lanes of traffic. Nice meal at a buffet with lots of variety and then straight to bed for a nice sleep.

Scenery out of Rio to Araruama is stunning and varied. From the climbers going up the mountains in Rio to the 10 mile long bridge across the bay to the oil platforms being constructed and the drive through the mountains and countryside to the lakeside hotel we are now staying in in Araruama!

Going out to meet some Rotarians in a couple of hours and then we have three presentations in the next 4 days in 3 different cities. Visits to some projects tomorrow and to a company that develops medical software which should be interesting for both myself and Katie.

Been for a late afternoon swim after being met by the Rotarian, Heinz, who is going to be escorting us during our stay in the Araruama district
