B-Day + 2

A very busy day with breakfast, brunch, late lunch and dinner still too come - with added musical entertainment!

First visited a college in the centre of town that trains technicians of many different kinds - medical, computer, health and safety, etc then on to a centre that looks after and gives advice to people with HIV but who cannot afford any treatment and finally in the morning to the Archeological Museum where we supposed to meet the Mayor but he didn't arrive but we were given a performance by some local school children of a song sun in the local native brasilian language.

David's diary

A giant day for the Team leader as he hurtles into technology after being goaded by Jason!
Brazilian Rotarians from District 4750 are doing us proud. The organisation has been very good and we appear to have our own dedicated mini-bus driver.
We are now in Araruama and last night after a pizza supper we were taken to the main town square which the local population are very proud of.
The team are doing a first class job and Distict 1100 can have every confidence in their ambassadors.
Must rush now - we are off to see the mayor.

B day + 1

Arrived in Barsil safely! Was delayed coming off the place as they wanted to inspect it because of Piggy Flu! All the staff in the airport were wearing face masks!

Had a police escort from the airport to the hotel which was either worrying (it is dangerous) or a privilege (because we are so important) - probably the former!

Went straight out of the hotel for a light snack around the corner - with the mini-bus nearly going up a one way street against 3 lanes of traffic. Nice meal at a buffet with lots of variety and then straight to bed for a nice sleep.

1 sleep to go ...

Is everybody ready?

Just got to put all my stuff in to bags tonight and then I'm good to go!

Must remember .....

....

money, passport, travel insurance (and copies of), camera, presentation & notes, camera, plenty of pants, rotary badge, gifts for families, other sundry gifts for kids, laptop, skype phone, insect repellent, suntan lotion, ummm ....

Have I missed anything?

Only 3 sleeps to go!

And the question now is....will everything fit into my bag?

4 sleeps to go!

Where has the time gone?

Only 6 sleeps to go!

Lots of packing and last minute bits and pieces to do but can't wait!

8 days to go ...

Swine flu allowing there is only 8 days to go.

Better start to think about packing and making sure I have everything I need for 4 weeks away.

Final Countdown...

There are now less than 2 weeks before the team departs for District 4750!

Time to start getting organised!
